This includes:- 1) Full day membership to the club and as such you are able to bring family and friends as guests to enjoy the club facilities. 2) Soaring society day membership. 3) One of three introductory flight options. a) A pure Gliding introduction flight. The flight is normally 30 minutes but as it is a weather related sport neither the time of day or duration is guaranteed. b) Or a 30 minute introduction flight in a motorised self launching glider where the glider climbs to altitude and then glides for the rest of the flight. c) Or a 30 minute scenic introduction flight in a motorised glider. You can book any Saturday or Sunday of your choice and an approximate time for the flight through myself, or you can arrive any weekend day at the club at about 10:00am and join the “introduction to gliding day” queue. However the flight would not be booked and may only happen later in the day. You only pay if you fly. If you wish to have an “introduction to gliding day” gift voucher, you must book and pre pay. Please email myself or fax the payment confirmation to +27 0866704447 and I will email the voucher per return. Should the flight not take place for any reason you can rebook for another day or the money is fully refundable. Sorry we do not take credit cards at this stage. The voucher is valid indefinitely but subject to any price adjustments over time. The amount is R750 per person. Should you join the club within 10 days of your intro day, the R750 will be credited to your flying account and you will then be charged at member rates for the intro flight. Please bring any food, refreshments, sunscreen and hats you may require for the day. Also some camping chairs and a sun umbrella will add to your comfort. There is a clubhouse with normal facilities for your personal comfort. After flying there is a full bar and a self catering braai facility and we invite you and your friends to the clubhouse to enjoy the evening with us. The cost of a GPL is as follows. The training is done under the club structure so the instructor and tug pilots are free. You need however to be a member of the club. So it is R500 to join. R4500 per year subs R920 Soaring society of South Africa subs. ( can be paid off monthly by arrangment ) R500 credit to your flying account which obviously you get back as you fly. Then it takes about 30 to 40 flights to go solo. Each flight obviously requires a launch. There are two types of launch. A tug plane aerotow, or a cable winch launch. There is a charge for an aerotow launch of R25 per minute and is normally about 8 minutes. Usually you will do about 10 aerotows. The winch launch is R30. Usually you will do about 30 winch launches. The glider cost is R2.75 per minute and the flights are from 10 to 30 minutes. Contact Quintin Maine at Email colors@global.co.za Intro flight at Orient ( edited ) INTRO FLIGHT |
